Foxlink Group has completed its first supercomputing center named “Ubilink” and held an opening ceremony on November 14. The center is ranked 31st on the global TOP500 supercomputers list and 44th on the latest November Green500 list. As Asia’s first green energy supercomputing center, it showcases Taiwan’s AI computing power on the global stage.
Foxlink Group Chairman Guo, Tai-chiang commended the government’s initiative to promote the AI industry as a key area for incentives, emphasizing that computing power equates to national power. Foxlink Group will also follow NVIDIA’s new architecture to rapidly advance, laying the most advanced AI foundation for Taiwan’s next generation. The “Ubilink” supercomputing center has achieved four major milestones:
- The supercomputing center built with NVIDIA Hopper GPUs: It utilizes 1,024 NVIDIA Hopper GPUs and the NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking platform, achieving a peak performance of 45.82 PFLOPs (petaflops). After evaluation by an impartial testing center, it ranked among the top 31 on the global TOP500 supercomputers list in terms of computing power as of November 2024, making it the third highest in Asia, following Japan and China.
- The highest computing power in Taiwan: Ubilink, along with Taiwania 2, Taiwania 3, and Forerunner I built by the National Center for High-Performance Computing (NCHC), and NVIDIA Taipei-1, are the five major computing power centers in Taiwan, with a total computing power of 82.95 PFLOPs. Ubilink accounts for 55% of this computing power, making it the most powerful computing center in Taiwan.
- The fastest-built supercomputing center, completed efficiently in just three months. Chairman Guo Tai-chiang stated that this project was made possible with the technical support from NVIDIA, the abundant resources of Foxlink Group, Shinfox Energy, and ASUS Group, as well as the expertise of an experienced professional team, which together accomplished this super task.
- Asia’s first supercomputing center with green energy resources: Hu, Hui-sen, Chairman of Ubilink AI Company, emphasized that with the support of the Shinfox Energy team, Ubilink has become the first supercomputing center in Asia to integrate the green energy industry and energy resources. In the future, it can fully supply green electricity according to customer needs, setting a new benchmark for digital computing and sustainable development. It is Asia’s first green energy supercomputing center.
